The Peace of Art

Thu15thMar 2018

I heard an interesting statement yesterday. "Art is always peaceful. Even the art of a war, is peaceful". And on that last bit, I have to agree. My uncle was a combat artist during WWII, and painted pictures of the war going on around him. Wild concept. But when you look at those paintings, they're quiet. I think photos tend to be the same way. They can be OF tragedy, pain etc, but the photos themselves are very peaceful. I see this as a problem. It doesn't help us rise above what we see, and allows more numbness. That's why I'm so excited about my painting(s) because it/they WILL be felt. And a lot. If someone vomits after seeing my art and feeling the intensity of the energy...I say well done.
